Pending counsel review
This page is draft copy for internal review. Do not rely on it for legal compliance until counsel approves the final text.
No data sales. No AI training.
We will not sell, rent or license your personal data or uploaded content to third-party companies for their own use, including advertising, data products or AI training.
We will not use your music, audio, stems, lyrics, artwork, project files, messages or other personal data to train or fine-tune AI models. We do not grant third-party companies permission to use that material for AI training either.
Running In Progress requires service providers to process information for hosting, storage, payments, email and audio recognition. This processing is for delivering the service, not permission to sell your data or use your content for their own AI training.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, a display name, and a handle. Your profile can also include a bio, an avatar, and social links you choose to add.
Content you upload. Audio files, lyrics, video, artwork, project files, comments, and anything else you add to a Session. Uploads are stored with our hosting provider (Supabase Storage). When you upload audio, we also record your rights acknowledgement — the confirmation that you have the rights to use that audio.
Usage information. We record product events (for example, that an upload started or a recognition check completed) to understand how the product is used and to debug problems.
Community participation. We record actions such as creating Sessions, saving changes, sending and accepting contributions, publishing and completing collaborations. Records include the account, related Session or contribution, action type and available dates. We use them to show your contribution history and points, count qualifying artists and collaborators once per account, and record community milestone crossings. These records do not award ownership.
Communications. We store messages and requests you send through the product, support and copyright reports, and any non-binding indication of interest you submit for the Community Ownership Program. Expressing interest is optional and does not earn points.
Payment information. Website payments are processed by Stripe. Pro subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are processed by Apple. We never see or store full card numbers. We keep records of purchases, subscriptions, and payouts so your library and earnings work correctly. For Apple subscriptions, we verify signed transaction information and associate subscription access with your In Progress account.
Audio recognition checks
When you upload audio, audio and its filename may be sent to AudD, a third-party music recognition service, to check whether the file matches a commercially released recording. Larger files are sampled; smaller files may be sent in full. We store the result of that check. If a match is found we ask you to confirm your rights — the upload itself is never blocked by this check. See our Copyright & DMCA page for how copyright reports are handled. Recognition compares audio against a catalog; it is not permission to train AI on your uploads.
How we use your information
To run the product: hosting your Sessions, streaming audio, sending the emails you expect (invitations, activity, receipts), processing purchases and payouts, and enforcing our Community Guidelines. We also maintain participation records and investigate errors or abuse in those records.
Who we share it with
Service providers who run parts of the product on our behalf: Supabase (database and storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and AudD (audio recognition). Apple processes Pro subscriptions purchased through the iOS app. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Public content is public: public Sessions, your profile, credits on released records, and comments on public Sessions are visible to anyone. Private Sessions use access controls for you and authorized collaborators. Providers still process the files needed to host them, and authorized staff may access information to provide support or investigate safety issues. Your personal participation and points record is not a public leaderboard; you and authorized administrators can access it.
Making content public does not grant permission to scrape it for AI training. We cannot guarantee that an outside party will never copy public material without permission. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to address fraud, security or rights disputes.
Retention and corrections
We keep information needed to operate your account and preserve purchases, collaboration history, rights records and security. Account deletion does not necessarily erase every transaction, shared credit or historical community count. Some records may need to be retained for disputes or legal obligations.
You can review your activity at your contribution record. If information is wrong, or you need help accessing or deleting your data, contact us below. Earlier activity is included only where supporting records exist; missing dates are not invented.
Your choices
You control Session visibility (public or private), your email notification preferences in Settings, and your profile contents. You can delete your account from your profile settings on the website, or from Help & legal or Billing in the iOS app; deletion is guarded when your work is woven into other artists' Sessions, so collaboration history stays honest.
