Terms
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and In Progress. Plain language first; counsel will finalize the legal text.
Pending counsel review
This page is draft copy for internal review. Do not rely on it for legal compliance until counsel approves the final text.
Your account
You need an account to create Sessions, contribute, buy, or sell. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You must provide accurate information and be legally able to enter this agreement.
Your music stays yours
You keep all rights to the music and other content you upload. By uploading, you grant In Progress the limited license needed to operate the product: hosting your files, streaming them to the people your visibility settings allow, generating previews and waveforms, and displaying artwork and credits.
Every audio upload requires a rights acknowledgement — you confirm you have the rights to use that audio in the Session. Uploading music you do not have rights to is a violation of these terms.
Your data and AI training
We will not sell, rent or license your personal data or uploaded content to third-party companies for their own use, including advertising, data products or AI training.
We will not use your music, audio, stems, lyrics, artwork, project files, messages or other personal data to train or fine-tune AI models. We do not grant third-party companies permission to use that material for AI training either.
The license to operate the product does not include training AI models or licensing your work to companies for that purpose. Do not scrape, collect or reuse other people's content for AI training without their permission. Our Privacy Policy explains the service providers and processing needed to run In Progress.
Participation and Community Points
We keep a record of qualifying activity and contributions. Community Points recognise contribution; they do not convert into ownership or guarantee a place in a future program. Community Points do not constitute securities or a contractual right to participate in any future securities offering.
The proposed community milestones and how accounts qualify are described on the Community Ownership page. Reaching a milestone does not automatically award ownership. Artificial activity, duplicate accounts created to inflate counts, and fabricated collaborations violate these terms.
Collaboration and credit
When you contribute to someone else's Session, the artist decides what becomes part of the official cut. Work that survives into an official version earns public credit. Economic splits for paid releases are recorded separately in split agreements, which every participant must explicitly accept before a priced sale.
Purchases and sales
Artists can sell final releases directly on In Progress. Payments are processed by Stripe; sellers must complete Stripe Connect onboarding before receiving payouts. Track sales carry a 10% platform fee and fan contributions carry a 5% platform fee. Purchases grant you a personal entitlement to stream and download the release — not ownership of the underlying rights.
In Progress Pro is an optional monthly subscription. Subscriptions purchased on the website are managed through Stripe; subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are managed through Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription with the provider that bills it. Website subscriptions can be managed from billing settings. In the iOS app, Billing provides Restore purchases and Manage in App Store for Apple subscriptions. Deleting an In Progress account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Acceptable use
Do not upload content you have no rights to, impersonate others, harass people, spam, or attempt to break or abuse the service. Our Community Guidelines describe what is and is not okay, and how enforcement works.
Copyright
We respond to copyright notices as described on our Copyright & DMCA page, and we maintain a repeat-infringer policy: accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material will be restricted or terminated.
Termination and changes
You can stop using In Progress at any time and request account deletion through profile settings on the website or Help & legal or Billing in the iOS app. Shared work and unresolved obligations can require review before deletion; see the Privacy Policy for retention. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced before they take effect.
Disclaimers
The service is provided as-is. Split agreements and other in-product records are documentation of what happened in the product — they are not legal advice and may not replace formal agreements. Questions: michael@inprogress.music.
